Love it, great post, isn't it brilliant when you read something that strikes such a chord with you. I have this disease/obsession, it's good to hear other do to.

I've enjoyed reading your posts about FTTC/FTTK (K = kirk/kirch). In the United States the idea hits a snag - the strict separation of church and state. But there may be a bypass.

What if the destination is a church-affiliated school ? And what if the local public schools and libraries have been connected to the fiber network ? Then under the equal protection provision of the U.S.Constitution the students at church schools would be entitled to a piece of the action.

So if you encounter resistance to hooking up churches see if the local kirk has a school and then play the education card. COUP FOURRE ! (I've played a few hands of Milles Bourne.)

@Ted : thanks for the comment. Actually, on this side of the ocean, the "Fiber-To-The-Church" paradigm is totally agnostic. The idea is to bring the fiber connectivity to the very heart of the village, which happens to be the church in most cases here in Europe.
You can apply the same model in other parts of the World, so you'll get "Fiber-To-The-Temple", "Fiber-To-The-Mosque", etc...
