Last post of my "I did it" series (at least for today ;-), this little piece of a wonderful souvenir. In June 1996, I posted a call for participants on Usenet. Purpose : build the first 'online university' for FIber Optics Education. After only 2 months, more than 50 professionals - professors, researchers, entrepreneurs - were part of the association. Its name : Fiber 66.
If you ever asked yourself what the heck do the IT guys with terabytes hard drives, have a look at the fantastic www.archive.org and its Wayback Machine.
All the details about Fiber 66 (and its host Optoroute.com, also a worldwide web pioneer) here.
