Here is a document that I've created years ago, as a kind of summary of my career. It was in 2002, just before I learned that I had to leave Agilent (as so many people before myself...). I post it here and now, as is. No modifications, no update. I will publish the 2003-today story in a separate post, to show how the lay-off created perturbations in The Force ;-)

MARC RECORDS TRACK, PART ONE : 1983-1992, PIONEERING AT FRENCH RAILWAYS.

1983 : begin career, at Telecom department of SNCF french railways.
1983-1990 : Copper and optical cables commissioning, long-haul telecom. Optical cables installation & maintenance, videocom/datacom. Develop and implement field testing methods, develop and implement documentation process.
1985-1990 : Develop, implement and present optical networks training for SNCF I&M crews. Create training materials. Content : telecoms networks basics, fiber optics basics, optical cables installation and maintenance with intensive hands-on.
1988 : Act as Marcom at grand opening of France-first terrestrial singlemode link by SNCF. Create the “telecommunications network making-of” video for the TGV Atlantique high-speed train.
1990-92 : Operation manager of the Optical Networks Maintenance department. Team manager of twelve outside-plant techs. Lead several mission-critical maintenance operations, including one along the TGV-Atlantique high-speed train.

1993-97 : Founder & Director of XWinG, fiber optics consulting & training firm. Became market leader 1995-97. Address fiber optics at large, telecoms and non-telecoms domains.
1996 : Assist BIRP at creation of the Fibroptec trade show. Create and manage Optical Networking workshops and tutorials at Fibroptec ‘96.
1996-98 : Create and manage industry events, road shows and seminars, such as Le Tour de Fibre (“The Fiber Tour”) and FiberU Europe.
1996-98 : Act as advisory counselor at the Cabling System Europe trade show (CEP Exposium).
1996-98 : European sales manager for Multitel, fiber characterization services laboratory, Belgium. Organize, manage and operate several fiber characterization campaigns in Europe.
1995-98 : Business Intelligence missions for several Top10 France-based Network Equipment Manufacturers. Domain : optical networking and fiber optics at large.
1997-98 : Freelance consultant, working for service providers and NEMs.
1997-98 : Consultant for Siris Telecom, today Deutsche Telekom subsidiary. Help the company to setup appropriate structure for Network Design, Network Installation, and Network Commissioning, Operation & Maintenance.
1997-99 : Optical Networks training program manager at Vivendi’s Telecom Developpement branch. Help the company to setup appropriate structure for Network Design, Network Installation, and Network Commissioning. Help the company to reduce Acceptance Testing and Network Documentation costs.

Look after the entire HP Lightwave catalog, across EMEA region. Act as consultant for accessFIBER’ management system.
1998-99 : Fiber Optics Technology expert with HP Consulting. Help Pirelli to redesign its WDM equipment manufacturing plant in Lannion, France, from clean-rooms setup and incoming tests to final acceptance tests and shipment.
1998-99 : Owner and presenter at all internal training and customers seminars in Europe, such as New Product Introduction’ tours and Sales Force training events.
1998-99 : Install and upgrade network monitoring and management systems in Europe.
end 1999 - today : Optical Network Test operation, Boeblingen, Germany.
1999-june 2001 : Business Devlopment Manager EMEA.
2000-01 : Develop strong relationships with Channel Partners and Distributors, building with them the best-ever technical and sales support.
2000-01 : Develop business in Western Europe and Middle-East, through demonstration of expertise in optical networking, installation & maintenance, and test & measurement.
2000 : Create, organize and manage first worldwide training event for Sales Support.
2000 : Create, organize and manage first European Optical Network Test Channel Partner workshop. Objective : integrate partners in the Product Generation process.
june 2001 - today : ‘Product Portfolio Mngr’ with Product Marketing.
Role = Outbound Marketing manager.
2001 : Prepare introduction of Agilent MNT Modular Network Tester. Own and manage all strategic outbound marketing activities. Create the MNT’ slogan “It’s about network testing, it’s about you, the perfect fit.” Assist Marcom for all advertising, literature and PR activities.
March ‘02 : introduction of the MNT at CeBIT and OFC tradeshows. See Lightreading.com for report.
November 2001-May ‘02 : own, organize and manage all Sales Force training events, pre- and post introduction of the MNT.
January 2002-June ‘02 : own, organize and manage all customers events, pre- and post introduction of the MNT.
May-June ‘02 : create, own, and present the first Optical Field Testing road show in Europe. 6 stops, 130+ attendees., 40 companies, 30 leads generated.
June ‘02 : create and present the first Optical Field Testing seminar in Middle-East, with 60+ attendees.
2000 - today : owner, presenter, or staff member at all ONT-related customers events, such as tradeshows (OFC, CeBIT, etc.), seminars (ISE Forums, etc.), road shows (Optical Field Testing Seminar, etc.).
2000 - today : owner, organizer and presenter at all ONT-related internal events, such as Field Training Events, Sales Channels training, etc.
Since June 1998, 24 countries, 48 major cities, and 300 customers visited. From Jan. 1st to Dec.31st 2000 : , 150+ airlines’ boarding passes.
2000 - today : Member of the ONT Product Generation team, with R&D and Product Mkt. Member of the ONT Think Tank group "The Musketeers", aimed at core strategy definition and implementation.
