Opto 2006, Paris

The Opto exhibition was held this week in Paris, as usual at the Paris Expo exhibition center, Porte de Versailles. Outcome : a waste of time. Nothing new, no new companies but typical french distributors managed by typical french "Presidents", no eye-catching product, no... excitement at all. Maybe the proximity of ECOC, which was held in Cannes last September ? Or, most probably, the sign that the Fiber Optics industry is dying in this country ? The fact that the CablingSystem exhibition has been cancelled is another sign of our slow-but-undisputed divesture.
